What should I wear?

Close fitting, comfortable clothing is recommended. The hall can be a little cool, so wear layers and I prefer it if you wear socks. Please dress appropriately for a mixed class - men should wear cycling type shorts under baggy shorts for example, and women appropriate underwear. Dress like your mother is doing the class!

 

What do I need to bring?

I provide mats etc, so those are not necessary. Please make sure you bring water and if you have asthma, bring your inhaler.

 

How big are the classes?

Classes are a maximum of 10 people.

 

I am pregnant, can I come to class?

My classes are based on traditional Pilates whichdown involves a lot of lying down. This is not recommended after 15 weeks, so I recommend 1-1 sessions or specialised pregnancy Pilates or Yoga.

 

I don't want to pay for a block, can I drop in?

I am afraid that drop ins are not permitted as continuity is essential, for you and the others in the class.

 

How do I pay?

I use an online booking system called Supersass. Once you commit to coming I will create an account for you and you pay directly through the system, using credit or debit cards, or PayPal. For 1-1s and custom classes I require payment upfront via bank transfer, cash or cheque.

 

How often should I come?

Simply put, as much as possible, but at least try and come on a weekly basis. I don't work miracles - you need to try and be committed to improving your body and that is helped by regular attendance.

 

Is it good to do other exercise too?

It is always good to do some other exercise too - what you do depends on your preferences.

 

How do I find you?

I teach my classes in the small hall underneath St Mary & Joseph's Church, St John's Road HP1 1UE. However the entrance is on Horsecroft Road

 

Is there parking?

Generally there is on street parking locally, apart from between 9-10 am. At this time you can park in the car park on Cowper Road, or on St John's Road by the moor.

Is Pilates only for women?

Absolutely not. Joseph Pilates, who devise the system of exercises, was definitely male and lots of sportsmen like Andy Murray and footballers use Pilates as part of their training regime.

 

How much are classes?

It's £10 for a trial class or £82.50 for a block of 10

 

What happens if I can't make a class?

I have a 12 hour cancellation policy for classes (apart from courses),  it is your responsibility to cancel online. I do have discretion for family emergencies.

 

How do I book?

I use an online booking system which allows you to cancel and book in as you need, as well as pay via credit/debit card or PayPal.

 

Can I drop in?

I am afraid that drop ins are not permitted as continuity is essential, for you and the others in the class. I like to keep classes small so there is never more than 10 people in a class to ensure you get the attention you deserve.

 

What happens if I am late for class?

All sessions start promptly, and if you are later than a few minutes, you may be refused entry - for your own safety and with respect to the others in class.
